The Wedge

The Wedge

If you like to surf or hit the waves, the infamous
“Wedge” in Newport Beach is something you have to
experience at least once in your lifetime. Although
The Wedge isn’t classified as a wave, it’s actually
a 20 foot plus battering ram that was created by
sheer intelligence.

The way it heaves, throws, and bends behaves in ways
other waves can’t begin to comprehend. If you look
at it up close, you’ll notice that The Wedge is a
combination of two waves that join together, resulting
in a massive slingshot that is capable of sending
anyone flying.

The Wedge takes a swell, but only for a few moments,
retracting the swell energy from the jetty then
smashing on the beach. Though it may look like a
“humping effect”, as the locals call it, the feel
and look of it must be seen to be believed.

For many years, The Wedge in Newport Beach has proven
to be the best place in the world for surfing. Over
the years, professional body boarders have headed
here as well, to test their skill and experience
with the one thing that’s very hard to top.

How Dental Tourism Ruined Lisa’s Teeth

When her husband Mark Beggs offered to pay for her bridge work, Lisa Hewer, 38, was excited. But the high cost of dental treatment in Britain was too much for them.

Lured by the growing popularity of dental tourism, Hewer decided to have her teeth fixed in another country. That would enable her to save money and give her the opportunity to travel at the same time. It was an offer that was hard to resist.

The couple decided to travel to Hungary, one of the many travel destinations of people seeking affordable dental care. Other popular destinations for dental tourism include India, Africa, Mexico, Thailand, and Costa Rica.

The dentist there charged Hewer £3,500 for a full bridge for her upper teeth including the preparation of her existing teeth, tooth whitening and replacement of five mercury fillings. That was a bargain indeed considering that she would spend from £18,000 to £48,000 to have her teeth fixed in Britain.

“When we spoke to the managing director (of the dental travel agency) he was very helpful, reassuring us that the dentists in Hungary were highly trained and follow-up care was always provided,” Hewer said.

I Love France - Part One

France is a great place to visit.

I have been travelling to France now believes the past 30 years. It’s an amazing place, full of variety, you can be skiing 3000 feet up a mountain in the morning and then after a short drive, be sunbathing on sun-drenched beaches along the Riviera.

I first started travelling to France after I came out of the Army. It was a way for me to escape from the dreary northern town where I was born, and see a different part of the world without having to travel thousands of miles. It would be fair to say that I don’t have a favourite place in France, because it has so many wonderful places to see and explore.

Paris is one of the most wonderful cities in the world. I don’t how it has survived over the centuries as much wonderful architecture still stands and when you look at other European cities there is very little left. The Louvre must be one of the best museums anywhere. It holds some of the most famous pieces of art known throughout the world. Rodin, Picasso, Leonardo da Vinci, Rafael, and many more artists have work displayed here.

France’s Southern Capital of Marseille

If one city could be considered a miniature representation of the whole country of France, it would definitely be Marseille. The amazing wine, the savory food, the entire ambiance of this great southern French city is unlike that which you will find anywhere else in the world and your travel agents can book you right into the heart of this historic port town. From the bars and restaurants of the Place Thiars to the fish that are so fresh they are still moving at the quai des Belges fish market this city displays its uniqueness in every way.

The Vieux Port is the best place to begin a tour of the marvelous old port city. From there you can see the popular Notre Dame de la Garde, called Bonne Mère by the locals who believe it provides protection for the sailors on their dangerous journeys. The Canebière is the city’s most famed street and the Quartier du Panier is the area of Marseille that is richest in heritage and history. Another must see spot is the fifth century Abbaye de Saint Victor which is maintained in remarkably good condition considering it’s going on 1600 years of age. Your travel agent will demonstrate that no vacation is complete without taking a tour of one of several museums, five of which are Musée des Beaux Arts, Musée Grobet-Labadie, Musée d’Histoire Naturelle, Musée de la Mode and Musée Cantini.

Cruise From The UK - It’s Not All Down South

Dover, Southampton and Harwich seem to be the most favoured UK departure ports for cruise lines. But what about you poor folks who don’t live anywhere near these ports? Having to fly, drive or take the coach or train to get there can easily add on an extra day to your holiday and not everyone has the time. To help you out, I’ve trawled the internet to find alternative UK ports of departure for 2008. The majority are round trips, with the occasional disembarking at another UK port or flying back to the UK, all of which are noted. So take a look. You might be surprised at where you can go.

Liverpool

You have quite a choice if you live near Liverpool thanks to Fred Olsen. You can get a Taste of Portugal or Iberia, have a Canary Christmas, discover the Secrets of Norway, spend Easter in the Med, try out Castanets & Calvados (Portugal, Spain and France) or have an Adriatic Adventure. All on a round trip from Liverpool. Other Fred Olsen cruises from the home of the Beatles are:

Black Prince, The Orinoco Delta (Liverpool to Liverpool)

Black Prince, Canaries Interlude (Liverpool to Liverpool)

Discover Glorious and Heartful Russia!

No one would deny the fact that traveling means a lot in our life. And even if you do not have an opportunity to travel abroad or you are so busy that you can not even think about long journeys you should still find some time to change your surroundings, to change the way of your life even for a while because this, nothing else but traveling can help you to relax in the most sufficient way: you meet new people, you get acquainted with the new styles of architecture, you recognise the ancients monuments you have read so much about being in college and so on.

Traveling to Eastern countries has a lot of benefits as you may get acquainted with the beauty of the East, with their traditions and customs, with the people living there and their way of life. East has always been a miraculous and bizarre attraction to all the Western civilizations and nowadays it is very easy to travel, for instance, in Tibet or India. Nowadays we are living in a civilized world where crossing the ocean and a bigger part of the land may take you no more than 10 hours of flight. Why not to grab your chance and visit places where some centuries ago people wasted weeks and months to get their and enjoy the culture of the East?

Finding Irish Castles For Sale

Did you ever dream about living in a castle? Waking up in the morning and feeling like royalty? Well, consider making that dream a reality! Finding Irish castles for sale is possible. By following the suggestions I collected on my most recent trip to Ireland, you can purchase your very own Irish castle.

First, you will need a representative in Ireland if you don’t live in the country. Real estate agents in Ireland are called “Auctioneers” or “Estate Agents”, and work independently or belong to a group. The agents represent both buyers and sellers.

In the Republic of Ireland, most Estate Agents belong to the Irish Auctioneers and Valuers Institute or the Institute of Professional Auctioneers and Valuers and are state licensed. Northern Ireland is part of the United Kingdom and has a separate system of licensing.

Local and international property listing companies specialize in the rental and sale of Irish castles. Your agent will let you know when a castle in your desired location is listed for sale. It takes time, but castles do become available.

If you decide to buy a castle, your agent will handle the closing; you should also hire a solicitor (lawyer) to handle your legal work.
