Scotland Castles

As you will soon discover there are numerous Scotland Castles that one cannot only visit for a day, but if you wish you can stay in as well. Below we look at some of the castles, which one can actually stay in whether for a night or for several days. The most famous castles in Scotland is Edinburgh Castle but there are many more interesting castles you can visit in Scotland.

1. Ardverikie Castle is located close to Aviemore a place where many people going skiing during the winter months. The castle itself was originally used in the BBC TV Series, “The Monarch of the Glen”. Although you are unable to stay in the castle itself, it does have self-catering accommodation within its grounds that you can utilise.

2. Balmoral Castle is the official Scottish residence of the Queen of England (Elizabeth II) and is where she will often spend Christmas with her family. As well as being able to visit the castle if you wish there are cottages which can rent and stay in on the estate as well.

3. Edinburgh Castle along with Balmoral is the most well known of all the castles to be found in Scotland today. This is situated in the heart of the country’s capital and has a commanding view over the whole of the city.

4. Dalhousie Castle is situated in Bonnyrigg that is not far from Edinburgh and is a luxury 4 star hotel offering good quality accommodation. Along with its restaurant, which is located in the castles dungeons, it has a Hydro Spa where one is able to relax and unwind.
