Retirement Communities in Mexico

Retirement can be fraught with pitfalls.. what should be the time of your life can become the most stressful time you have experienced! It shouldn’t be like this.. if you retire “right” you won’t find yourself stuck in some old folks home with the cobwebs coming on sooner than you envisaged.

In fact, if you get the right retirement community in the right setting, you’ll find you are having a great time in a place that feels a resort. Retirement Communities in Mexico are becoming increasingly popular, because they are resort like, and yet cost effective at the same time.

You do of course need to weigh the options you have available to you if you choose to retire outside of your home country.  The first big decision is of course if you will live in an expatriate community or if you will live amongst the general population.  Both have their advantages and disadvantages.   The choice is quite a personal one, and can involve many factors, such as your familiarity with the country you choose to retire in, the language and culture can all make a difference.   Many people find that long term an expatriate community is a better option for them because there is less to have to adjust to.

There are a number of expatriate communities in Mexico and one in particular comes to mind.. Luma Living. With a fitness center complete with personal trainers, beach massages and fine dining, you’ll feel like you are on holiday, everyday.

Retirement Communities Mexico are great alternatives to retirement communities in the US. Mexico Retirement Communities offer a lower cost of living, reasonably priced beachfront homes in comparison to their U.S. counter-parts, and a climate and culture that are all factors contributing to the attractiveness of the area.

Why not check out Luma Living? You might just find that your home away from home is waiting for you…

This kind of communities are really need of society, they serve a very cost effective way to spend time after retirement. These communities become more useful because after the retirement money management becomes more important because of lack of regular income.

I believe that Mexico has a lot of great places to Retire and clearly saw it on the site’s screensaver. One disappointment is that the site is designed on the flash :(

I think the biggest concern would be health care in Mexico. I have heard of many health scares in Mexico and that alone might scare a lot of retirees from making the move to Mexico

My wife and I fell in love when we honeymooned there and it’s our heartfelt desire to one day relocate there from the UK. Unfortunately for us it’s likely to be during retirement, so thsi is an interesting post - thanks!

The language barrier should be one of the things you should consider before moving abroad. Many people assume they can simply move to another country and fit in. This might be the case in such places as Spain and Greece where there are a large number of ex-pats but counties such as Mexico are very different. To really fit in you need to learn the language and culture. This is difficult at the best of times but even harder for a person who is at the age of retirement. Just my thoughts anyway…

I agree, Mexico is a great place to retire. Now is also a great time to purchase retire property in Mexico. There is a lot of legal paper work that needs to be completed when buying property in Mexico for non-residents. This is to protect the buyer from possibly losing the property.

Be sure to do your research on buying property in Mexico, before signing any paper work. There are some U.S. based companies that can take care of all of the legal issues to protect your purchase.

I think these communities will get more popular as retired people have more time to talk and share. The youth here is not willing to spend time with old people like us.lets hope for better
